Nicki Gilbert, Class of 2004

Current Position: Indiana Medicaid Territory Marketing Manager

Company: Anthem

As a Warren alum, Nicki has witnessed the impact Warren Township School District had on paving the way for her and her classmate’s bright future.

Nicki says, “The Pride of the Eastside” isn’t just a tagline. I take pride in saying I went to Warren and my kids are a part of this District. There are so many teachers and staff at Warren who have positively impacted my life. Giving back to Warren through my work at Anthem, donating and volunteering during my personal time, gives those who follow me a chance at becoming something great."

There are many skills Nicki has learned at Warren that she continues to use today. Nicki says, "Time Management is one! Swiftly walking from Walker Career Center to the PAC is no easy task! It’s ok to keep walking when your friends want to mingle or chat. Tardiness tells others about your respect for other people’s time and your integrity."

“301 South Kitley!”, the towing address shouted during the morning announcements, still plays in my head when reminding myself to following instructions that are set in place for a reason. This high school example made me understand that there are consequences for my actions. There are so many lessons and skills I learned at Warren that stuck with me throughout adulthood. The foundation for my successful adulthood was truly impacted by MSD of Warren Township."

Through Nicki’s role with Anthem Medicaid, she has helped lead and pilot the Dance for Health program and challenge in Warren Township Schools. Together, Anthem and WAEF provided a unique, sustainable fitness program directly impacting students in Warren Township Elementary Schools by promoting physical activity, health and wellness. Every Warren Township Elementary School participated, and the winning school, Pleasant Run, won the prize with over 300 students participating. WAEF and Anthem will be presenting the winning school with a book vending machine!

Nicki has recently joined the Warren Arts & Education Foundation as a Board Member. Because of alumni like Nicki, we can continue to empower students and educators and remove barriers to learning in support of the whole child.
